- For medium-rare steak, cook the steak for 4-5 minutes per side.
- For medium steak, cook the steak for 6-7 minutes per side.
- For well-done steak, cook the steak for 8-9 minutes per side.
A meat thermometer is the best way to ensure that your steak is cooked to the level of doneness that you prefer. To use a meat thermometer, insert it into the thickest part of the steak and cook the steak until the internal temperature reaches the following temperatures:

Cooking tips for New York steak
