Instant Pot® Cinnamon Pear Applesauce Recipe

Instant pot cinnamon pear applesauce is a simple recipe for that smooth applesauce that is so good. This super easy and versatile homemade applesauce recipe tastes even better after a day or two. It can be enjoyed immediately, also it’s a great way to pair with savory dishes such as this Cocoa-Spiced Pork Roast or with cottage cheese or creamy Greek yogurt for breakfast.

One great thing is that you can use any large pears or apple varieties you’d like, whether it is sweet apples like pink lady or golden delicious or tart apples like the granny smith. There are also many pear varieties, but Bartlett pears are a great option you can find at any grocery store. For sure you’ll never want any store-bought applesauce after trying this instant pot apple sauce.

What is an Instant Pot?

An Instant Pot is a kitchen appliance that functions as an electric pressure cooker, slow cooker, rice cooker, and steamer. It has a number of preset cooking programs, as well as the ability to be programmed manually. It’s so versatile it will quickly become one of your most useful kitchen appliances!

Ingredients

  • 4 large apples, cored and chopped
  • 2 large fresh pears, cored and chopped
  • ¼ cup water or sugar-free apple cider or juice
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • Optional: 1-2 tablespoons honey, preferably local instead of added sugar

Equipment

  • Instant Pot
  • Cutting board and knife
  • Food processor or blender

Instructions

  1. Combine apples, pears, water, ground cinnamon, and fresh lemon juice in Instant Pot® and stir to combine. Add lid and lock into place. Switch the vent to “Sealing” and set the “Manual” setting to 4 minutes.
  2. When cook time is complete, allow the natural pressure release for 10 minutes, then manually release any remaining pressure.
  3. Taste and add honey to sweeten, if desired. Carefully transfer mixture to a food processor or high-powered blender and blend until smooth. (For chunkier results, use an immersion blender instead).
  4. Serve immediately, or transfer to airtight containers and place in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week. Enjoy!

Notes

 For added fiber, do not peel the apples or pear prior to cooking. The final result will still be incredibly smooth and creamy after blending.
